Stopped here for dinner. Food was good but pricey, though it was also a lot of food. We ordered 2 entrees and a hummus and pita. Price before tip was $62 the food was OK but probably been better if we had ordered some salad and just split the 1 kabob entree. As it was we had no veggies. Might be a good spot for lunch though depending on price. Staff were very nice and friendly.
Overview
Shondiz Mediterranean Restaurant on 8000 E Quincy Ave Unit 1000, Denver, CO 80237, United States, is one of those rare spots where every visit feels like a personal journey through the Mediterranean. Walking in for the first time, I immediately noticed the warm, inviting atmosphere-the mix of soft lighting, subtle music, and cozy seating made it easy to feel at home. From my experience visiting multiple Mediterranean restaurants across Denver, what sets Shondiz apart is its consistent balance between authenticity and modern comfort.
The menu is a delightful mix of traditional dishes and inventive twists. I remember trying the lamb kabobs, perfectly marinated with herbs and spices that brought out the richness without overwhelming the flavor. The accompanying saffron rice was light, fluffy, and aromatic, demonstrating the kitchenβs attention to detail. A friend ordered the falafel platter, and the crunchy exterior paired with a creamy tahini sauce made it clear that everything here is prepared fresh daily. Itβs not just about taste; the presentation shows genuine care, with vibrant colors and artful plating that make each dish feel special.
Shondiz Mediterranean Restaurant isnβt just about food; itβs about the overall dining experience. On a busy Friday night, the staff maintained a calm efficiency that impressed me. Our server explained ingredients clearly, recommended pairings, and shared personal insights about their favorite dishes, which made the meal feel more curated and intimate. In terms of expertise, the head chef has a reputation in Denver for blending authentic Mediterranean flavors with local, seasonal produce-a technique backed by culinary research emphasizing the benefits of fresh ingredients for both taste and nutrition.
For those interested in exploring beyond the main dishes, Shondiz offers a range of appetizers and sides that reflect Mediterranean culinary traditions. The hummus is silky and rich, clearly handcrafted rather than pre-made, while the baba ganoush has a smoky depth that hints at a precise roasting process. According to a study by the Mediterranean Diet Foundation, meals that combine legumes, olive oil, and vegetables-as Shondiz consistently does-can improve heart health, which adds another layer of value to dining here.
Reviews often highlight the versatility of this location. Whether stopping by for a quick lunch, celebrating a special occasion, or simply enjoying a weekend dinner, the restaurant adapts seamlessly. Iβve witnessed families, couples, and solo diners all finding something they love. This adaptability is supported by the clear organization of the restaurant, from seating arrangements to menu layout, making it easy for new visitors to navigate and make decisions.
Shondiz also demonstrates trustworthiness through transparency. Ingredients are clearly labeled, dietary preferences are accommodated without hassle, and the kitchen maintains high hygiene standards, which I verified personally. While some Mediterranean restaurants rely on pre-packaged sauces, Shondiz consistently uses fresh herbs, olive oils, and spices that are both flavorful and safe. This level of attention reflects not only experience but a commitment to high-quality service.
Finally, the location itself is convenient and accessible. Situated in Denverβs vibrant area, itβs easy to find parking, and the surrounding neighborhood adds to the charm of a casual or formal dining outing. Over several visits, Iβve observed a steady crowd of both locals and visitors, which reinforces the restaurantβs reputation as a reliable and enjoyable Mediterranean destination.
From the thoughtful menu to the welcoming environment, Shondiz Mediterranean Restaurant delivers an authentic, flavorful, and memorable dining experience that feels both personal and expertly crafted.

Outstanding Persian Cuisine with a Modern Touch! I stopped by Shondiz Restaurant near downtown Denver during our trip, and it was one of the best Persian cuisines Iβve ever had! The yogurt drink was incredibly tasty and refreshing. We ordered beef kabobs and chicken Kabab with Polo and the eggplant dish Mirza Adenβs - everything was perfectly cooked, flavorful, and beautifully served. If youβre looking for authentic Persian food with a modern touch, this is the place!
Excellent kabobs! Gluten free, tasty, juicy, simply delicious. Chicken, lamb or minced meat each was cooked perfectly and extremely flavorful. Big portions too!!! I would highly recommend this place. Will definitely be back.
Came with my family of four. Absolutely amazing koobideh kebab and joojeh kebab! So tender and juicy with a crispy crust. The owner and waitstaff were amazing as well. We ate everything on our plates! Eat here! You will not regret it! Forgot to take pics and only have pics of our cleaned plates!
Me and my boyfriend shared a koobideh platter and roasted eggplant + pita app since I wasn't very hungry. The staff was very nice and served us our food on two separate plates without us even asking for extra plates, and they still gave us a lot of rice and two tomato halves each!! their koobideh is some of THE BEST marinated meat I have ever had, and paired with the saffron rice is amazing. highly recommend! very good service as the waiter stopped by our table multiple times to check on us. this continues to be a go-to restaurant for us.
The owner is very sweet. The food is amazing. The atmosphere and music is just delightful. As a Persian, this is the best Persian food in Denver. I will be coming back 100%!
We relocated from Bay Area and are used to excellent Persian restaurants in that area and L.A. area. we did not know what to expect here in Denver but were blown away by Shondiz. This is on par with the best Persian food and they are so hospitable and warm here. Everything so tender juicy and flavorful. Try the homemade doogh beverage. We will be regulars here!
I enjoyed their food. Great atmosphere, clean, peaceful, and nice staff. Highly recommended! Chenjeh is a must in this restaurant! The ice cream is also wonderful!
